Two very different days for golf is probably the best way to describe the conditions experienced by the 85 golfers who teed up for the 2021 KZN Senior Amateur Spring Open tournament held at Mount Edgecombe over the 5th and 6th September. Day one was quite mild with light winds while day two was overcast and rainy early in the morning with a sprinkling of light rain towards mid-day making the course play a little longer and greens a little slower. The course however, was in magnificent condition.

In the A Division, day one was closely contested with Keith Forde (DCC) leading in the clubhouse overnight with a two-under gross score of 68 with Lyall Mc Neill (DCC) one shot behind on 69. One shot further back on 70 were Murray Gilson (DCC) and Isaac Henekom (Victoria). One shot further behind them on 71 were Douglas McCabe (Magalies Park), Schalk Naude (Randpark) and Graeme Inggs (MECC).

Scores on day two were not as good as day one which was to be expected with only two players, Lyall Mc Neill and Basil Naidoo, managing to return level par rounds of gross 70 which was enough for Lyall Mc Neill (DCC) to take first place with a total gross score of 139. A jubilent Lyall is pictured above.
