Royal Durban Golf Club proved to be a tough nut to crack on Monday 25th March. The rough has been left long in preperation for their upcoming club championships and the wind most certainly had an effect, even on the greens !

But, the tough conditions did not seem to deter some of the players. Max Magnussen played stirling golf and shot a one-under 72 gross. Mike Matthews shot level par 73 and Richard Nel 76 gross.

The A Division first place obviously went to Max Magnussen with Richard Nel placed second (both pictured above). The Best Net in the A Division went to Mike Matthews with his 73 less 0 = 73 nett and Mike Olivier was placed second on nett with 80 - 6 = 74 nett.

The B Division was won by Danny Naidoo with 35 individual stableford points. Second was FA Lugomo with 35 (counted out), third was Terry Epstein also with 35 (counted out). Fourth place went to Mark Thorp with 34 points and fifth was Manny Teixeira also with 34 points (counted out).

The C Division first place went to Aaron Harry with 36 individual stableford points with second place going to Alan Branfield with 35 stableford points.

Mention must be made that there were a number of players who had entered and did not bother to turn up. This is inexcusable. A timeous call to the Union if one is unable to play at least gives those players who did not manage to make the draw, to take up the cancellation and at least have a game.

Another point is that there are still some players who do not put their names on their score cards. Often there are just initials or a first name and this makes it impossible for the scorer to know who the player is. An immediate disqualification is the result and no order of merit points can be allocated for the player as a result. This is therefore a plea to those quilty to please take more care and record your full name and handicap on the score card before handing it in to the scorer.
