KZN Senior Amateur and annual Senior Trophy results from Kloof CC 12/6/2024

It was really great to see a full turnout for the Senior Trophy event which was run in conjunction with June KZN Senior Amateur monthly tournament on a glorious and perfect Autumn day at Kloof Country Club on Tuesday 12th. Kloof CC was in great condition and the slick, fast greens appreciated by many but also proved to be the downfall of the unwary. Nevertheless, compliments regarding the course abounded.

The Senior Trophy, which is a KZNGU sponsored annual event, is an individual stableford competition which is open to all senior golfers. There were some very good results posted for this event across the handicap divisions but the outright trophy winner and earning a gold medal in the process was Pat Moodley who scored 42 individual stableford points playing off a 24 handicap. Runner-up and earning a silver medal was Gary Fourie with 40 stableford points playing off a 19 handicap. Congratulations to both players.

There were good scores in the Senior monthly tournament as well. Taking the A Division honors by one shot was Keith Forde (pictured above) who returned a gross 70 with Sean Fenger in second place with gross 71. The Best Nett in the A Division went to ever popular Willie Ashton with a score of gross 76 less 8 handicap = 68 nett. Runner-up was Deon Kotze with gross 75 less 5 handicap = 70 nett.

There were good scores in the B Division as well with Chris Howarth (pictured right) taking first place with 39 individual stableford points playing off a 10 handicap. The remaining places went to 2nd Hugo Venter, 3rd Gabriel Steffens and 4th Gavin Wilkinson and who all had 36 points.

The C Division was won by Pat Moodley who also won the Senior Trophy with 42 individual stableford points. Second was Gary Fourie with 40 points who counted out Bridg Rambujan who also had 40 points.
