Andy Forde wins KZN Senior Classic

KZN Senior Classic Results, Kloof Country Club 5 – 6th March, 2026

The 2026 KZN Senior Classic kicked off on a very hot and humid Thursday morning on the 5th of March at Kloof Country Club. The course was immaculate although the overall scores in both divisions would suggest that many participants found the going tough on the opening day.

Good scores in the A division on this par 70 course on day one saw Sunil Pillay (East London GC), Lynton Beckett (Royal Durban GC) and Kevin Curren (Durban CC) (picutred right with Richard Nel) all coming home in 71 gross with Gordon Wessels (Waterkloof), Phillip Grant (Zimbali) Leon Scott (Wingate) and Andy Forde (Kloof CC) one shot further back with 72. Steve Cullen (Durban CC) was an additional one stroke behind with 73.

The B Division was led by Colin Weinstein (Modderfontein) (pictured right with Richard Nel) with 35 individual stableford points with Kobus Swart (Kloof CC) and Paul Smith (Kloof CC) hot on his heels each with 34 points, followed by Jose de Jesus (Victoria CC) and Dean Algar (Riverside) with 33 points respectively.

There was some rain overnight so Friday morning started off being overcast and a lot cooler than the previous day, however resulting in making the course play a little longer and the rough just that much more difficult to manage. Some good scores resulted however and Andy Forde (featured photo) and Abrie Akerman (Waterkloof) shot one under par 69’s with Keith Forde and Himesh Sewsunker (RDGC) on 72, Leon Scott and Maartin Boschoff on 73 and Sunil Pillay and Phillip Grant on 74.

The B Division also saw improvements with Jose de Jesus scoring 37 points with Paul Smith, SS Mzimela (KCC) and Gabriel Steffens (Bluff National) two points back with 35 points respectively.

The overall results of the 2026 KZN Senior Classic was therefore as follows:

A Division

1st Andy Forde Kloof Country Club 141 gross

2nd Abrie Akerman Waterkloof 144 gross

3rd Leon Scott Wingate 145 gross

4th Sunil Pillay East London 145 gross

Super Senior Kevin Curren DCC 146 gross

Best Nett Steve Cullen Durban Country Club 140 Nett

B Division

1st Jose de Jesus Victoria CC 70 points

2nd Colin WEinstein Modderfontein 69 points

3rd SS Mzimela Kloof CC 66 points

Super Senior Paul Smith Kloof CC 69 points
