Himesh Sewsunker and Pierre Maree win at Bluff National GC

The August monthly Senior Amateur tournament, which incorporated the KZN Senior Trophy, was played at Bluff National Park GC on Tuesday 18th. Conditions on the day were fine with a breezy wind that always seems to blow directly up and down the valley making club selection difficult. Results show that while some players found the going tough, the Bluff members obviously seemed to be quite at home.

Starting with the Senior Monthly results, Himesh Sewsunker (pictured) played excellent golf making four birdies and two bogeys to finish on two under par gross 70 to take first place in the A Division. Ashwin Krishen was placed second with a score of one over par gross 73 counting out Philip Grant and Mike Matthews also on one over par gross 73. The Best Nett prize in the A Division went to Pierre Maree with a score of gross 78 less 8 handicap = nett 70. Runner-up was Dean Stopforth with gross 77 less 6 handicap = nett 71.

The B Division was won by Devesh Ramiah with a score of 37 individual points followed by Gabriel Steffens on 34 points counting out Omprakash Ramlakhan also with 34 points. 

There was a small turnout of C Division players resulting in only one prize being awarded which went to Paul Leask with a score of 33 individual points to take first place, counting out Sam Pillay and Paddy Sookdeo also with 33 points respectively.

KZN Senior Trophy, which is an annual KZNGU sponsored individual stableford event played across all handicap divisions, was included in the August monthly. This prestigious trophy and a gold medal was won by Pierre Maree (pictured receiving the trophy and medal from Richard Nel) with a score of 38 individual stableford points. Second place, and earning a silver medal, was Dean Stopforth (pictured being congratulated by Richard Nel) with a score of 37 stableford points.
