A second monthly tournament in the month of May saw a reduced field of 81 players turn out at Bluff National Park on Tuesday 25th. Bluff was (in my opinion) in the best condition I have experienced for some time and the benign conditions on the day resulted in some very good scores being submitted across all divisions.

Guy O'Connor (pictured above) dropped a few shots coming home but still managed to take first place with a score of one under par 71 gross. Although Mark Archer was one shot behind with level par 72 gross, the second prize gross was awarded to Alan Landsberg with a gross of 74. The Best Nett prize therefore went to Mark Archer with a great score of 72 gross less 6 h'cap = 66 nett. Runner-up nett was Dave Fisher with 75 less 6 h'cap = 69 nett. Steve Cullen, Rajen Sewgolum and Steve Young also finished on 75 gross.

There were good scores in the B Division with Clive Rossser taking first place with an impressive score, shooting six under his handicap, to finish with 42 individual stableford points. Second spot went to Charlie Reddy also with a great score of 40 points. Third was Mike Sekobane with 39 points and fourth was Mike Cockrell with 38 points. Not far behind, but out of the prizes, were Gary Fourie with 37 points followed by Neil Champion, Ganas Naicker, Robin Singh and Shorty Gielink with 36 points.

There were only 10 players in the C Division, so prizes were limited to one spot only and this went to Hugh Crichton, who also played six under his handicap to finish with 42 individual stableford points. Out of the prizes were Keith Palmer (35 points) and Cecil Prinsloo (34 points).

Congratulations and well played to all those that won prizes. Your vouchers will be sent to you via email. Many thanks to The Golfers Club for their continued support in this regard.

The next event is the KZN Senior Trophy which is to be played at Durban Country Club on 7th June 2021. This is an individual stableford tournament played across all divisions and is open to all golfers over the age of 50. No Order of Merit points are allocated to this tournament which is an annual event sponsored by the KwaZulu Natal Golf Union. Entries close on 2nd June so no time to lose.

The next KZN Senior Amateur monthly tournament is scheduled for 22nd June 2021 and is to be played at Kloof Country Club. Get your entries in to Gail at the KZNGU Office. See you there.
