2025 LEAGUE SEASON NEARS ITS CONCLUSION
We are reaching the end of the 2025 league season. One that has seen some interesting results as well as some runaway winners. I want to thank all the captains for the effort they have put in this year. There have been some tough calls that I have had to make. Those tough calls were made in order to keep the leagues fair and played according to the rules set at each league meeting. I must remind all teams that there still a lot to play for no matter your league position. League sizes are decided by team entries and these decisions are only made before the 2026 fixtures are finalised. This means that finishing league positions are very important. At all league meetings it has been mentioned that the perfect league size is 7 teams. I am always trying to get to this number. I have had a few enquiries for new teams for 2026, which is great news for the leagues.
In the Premier league, Zimbali are on the brink of winning their first KZN Premier League title. They have one more hurdle, Victoria Country Club. A win in this fixture will ensure league victory. It will however not be easy as Victoria are a formidable outfit that are capable of causing an upset. Waiting in the wings are Durban Country Club. DCC face Kloof Country club in a battle of the top two from 2024. It will be very interesting on the final day at Cotswold Downs. The hosts finish the season against Umhlali and will look to consolidate their good showing in 2025. At the other end of the log Maritzburg Golf Club and Royal Durban will be fighting to avoid the wooden spoon and certain relegation.

In the B division, there are some very interesting fixtures that could change the outcome at both the top and bottom of the league. Zululand lead Kloof and need a win against bottom of the log Royal Durban to win the league. Royal Durban will have home ground advantage. Kloof B will be looking for a win against 3rd placed KZN Midlands to keep the pressure on Zululand. Kloof C and Bluff A battle for a win to keep clear of relegation in what will be a very interesting days golf at Royal Durban.

In the C division Mount Edgecombe have already won the league. Mathematically they cannot be caught by 2nd placed Umkomaas. MECC have an astonishing 19 game point advantage going into the final round of fixtures after being dominate in 2025. Well done for a well-deserved win. The final round of fixtures will be played at Umkomaas with all teams playing for league positions.

In Allerton A, Cotswold won the league without playing this last weekend thanks to Toti beating eThekwini. Well done on back to back league wins. The rest of the league is wide open and any of the remaining teams could finish 2nd or face relegation. In the last fixture at Midlands, Cotswold close the season against the hosts, Athlone play Toti and Royal Durban will try avoid relegation against Kloof. eThekwini have the bye but should have enough game points to avoid being relegated.

In the Allerton B, there is a last day showdown between Simbithi and Umkomaas to decide the league winner and promotion. Simbithi lead by half a game point as it stands. Greater Durban have had a good season but have the bye and cannot improve their position. Central Durban host Alliance and Maidstone play Bluff in the remaining fixtures to decide the remaining positions in the league.

All the best for the final round of fixtures. I look forward to seeing all the results and crowning the 2025 Champions.
Cheers
