2025 League Season reaches the halfway point

And just like that it is June and we have reached the middle of the league season. With an incredible amount of rain across the province, it has been a challenging start to league in 2025. Thankfully for our league season we are having some glorious weather of late and there have been some interesting league results thus far.

Other than rained out fixtures, league has moved forward without many issues to speak of. There have been the following infringements. As mentioned in the league meeting, I was going to be strict as the rules are in place to keep the leagues fair and competitive for all.

I would like to highlight the entering of teams into Score Capture before matches. For the most part teams have been really good, thanks. Unfortunately, I have had to deduct points from a couple of teams for not entering their teams on time. Please ensure your teams are entered in time and correctly.
I have seen a huge improvement in captains entering their own results and verifying. I would like this to get to where it is all done and results are posted and updated to the website.
This year, if a team does not arrive for a match, they will automatically have 2 points deducted. Unfortunately, this has been the case once this season but there has been an improvement from last year.

Enough about the rules let’s get onto why we all play league, the results and standings.
Durban Country Club have got their challenge to regain the Premier league title off to a solid start, unbeaten to date. Their last result was a hard fought 6-6 draw with newcomers Zimbali. Zimbali themselves are unbeaten along with a rejuvenated Cotswold in 2025. Victoria Country club have also been competitive, their only blemish being a loss to Cotswold Downs.
Kloof have had a quiet start to their defence with a surprise defeat to Umhlali in their last outing.

In the B division, Zululand are the run-away leaders. It looks like only a complete meltdown from the boys from the north will prevent them from being promoted. They have been keen for a return to the Premier League and this looks like it could be their year. It will be a tight run in for the rest of the teams in the B league.

In the C division there has only been two fixtures to date. This league is shaping up to be very competitive. Mount Edgecombe have a very strong squad. It will be interesting to see if the experienced Toti B team or the youngsters from Umkomaas can knock Mount Edgecombe’s off their track to get promoted at the first time of asking.

In Allerton A, Cotswold are off to a strong defence of their title and look like they will be tough to beat again this season. eThekwini, Toti and Midlands will have other ideas and will look to knock Cotswold off the top of the league before the end of the season.

In the Allerton B, there has not been much golf with this league being affected by the rain in the beginning of the season. Fixtures will be made up and there will be a lot of golf to be played before the end of the season. No clear favourite has emerged this early.

All the best for the next round of fixtures. I look forward to seeing all the results.
