KZN Senior Monthly – Umhlali – 18 Feb 26

KZN Senior Results – Umhlali CC – 18th February 2026

An interesting day at Umhlali Country Club on Wednesday 18th February where the scores alone tell the tale. Yes, the wind did blow but not excessively so and yes there were subtle breaks on the greens which took some getting used to and yes, a stray shot on this tight layout could very quickly lead to a double-bogey or more and I think that all of this came into play on the day.

There were some exceptions however. Andy Forde (pictured) played solid golf on the day to finish level par 71 to take first place in the A Division, three shots ahead of Keith Forde and Murray Gilson both on 74 with Philip Grant one further back on 75. Second place therefore went to Murray Gilson on a count-out with Keith Forde taking the Best Nett prize with 74 less 3 = 71 nett and runner-up Best Nett went to Philip Grant with a score of 75 less 1 = 74 nett.

Scores in the B Division were also unusually on the low side. Morgan Subramany was the only player to play to his handicap in this division to finish with 36 individual stableford points playing off a 15 handicap to take first place with David Fisher (11 handicap) in second place with 33 points.

The C Division players seemed to fare a little better with Sharky Adams (23 handicap) finishing with 36 individual stableford points to take first place followed by David Malan (20 handicap) one point back with 35 in second place and Ernie Oosthuizen (28 handicap) in third place with 34 points, who counted out Kumar Naidu (21 handicap) and Terry Epstein (27 handicap) also with 34 points respectively.

Upcoming events are the KZN Senior Classic at Kloof Country Club over 5th and 6th March and the KZN Senior Open at Mount Edgecombe The Woods over 8th and 9th March. Please contact the KZNGU offices to enter if you haven’t already done so. The next Senior Monthly tournament is scheduled to be played at Royal Durban Golf Club on the 30th March which will be followed by the AGM which we encourage our members to attend.

Finally, many thanks to our sponsors, the Golfers Club, for their continued support.
