Ashwin Krishen wins KZN Senior Monthly Tournament at Royal Durban GC

The first monthly tournament counting towards Order of Merit points for the 2026/2027 season was held at Royal Durban Golf Club on Monday 30th March. Early season treatment of the greens has definitely paid off as the greens are really in great shape at the moment as are the fairways and good scores were expected on the day if the testing Royal rough was avoided.

In the A Division, Ashwin Krishen (pictured) had a great back nine of three under 34 to clinch first place with a total score of two under par gross 70. Andy Forde, Lynton Beckett and Keith Forde all turned on 34 after nine but Andy made double bogey on 18 to finish on one under 71, Lynton double dropped on 17th to finish on level par 72 and Keith dropped shots on 14th, 15th and 16th to finish on one over 73. One shot further adrift were Guy O’Connor and Noel Parsonage on gross 74. So, first prize allocation in the A division went to Ashwin Krishen on gross 70 and runner-up was Lynton Beckett with gross 72. The Best Nett went to Andy Forde with gross 71 less 1 handicap = nett 70 and runner-up was Noel Parsonage with 74 less 3 handicap = nett 71.

Some excellent scores in the B Division as well with Kelvin Ganesan taking first place with 41 individual stableford points. Second was Gavin Wilkinson with 39 points and third was Mark Thorpe with 38 points. Well played guys !

The C Division also produced some great scores with Sharky Adams taking first place with 42 individual stableford points with Bridg Rambujan taking second place on 40 points. Again, congratulations on your great rounds.

The KZN Senior AGM followed after the game. Many thanks to all those players who made the effort to attend a fruitful meeting. There was one change to the Senior Committee as Brian Olsen has decided to step down and take some well earned time off. Brian has been replaced by Andrew Forde who will be a welcome asset to the Committee.
