Always a favourite, a total of 94 players turned out for the Monthly game at Umhlali Country Club on Wednesday 11th October. The weather was kind, participants had almost perfect playing conditions even though the greens had been “dusted” in keeping with normal Spring treatment this time of the year. Good scores in all divisions was therefore no surprise.

Playing solid golf, Kevin Ullyett shot a 69 gross on the day to take first place in the A Division. Three players, some five shots behind on 74 gross, were Dean Stopforth who took second place counting out Guy O’Connor and Lynton Beckett in the process. The Best Nett prize in the A Division went to Ian Brewer with a score of gross 77 less 9 h’cap = 68 nett. Runner-up was Monay Pretorius with gross 77 less 8 h’cap = 69 nett.

There was good scoring in the B Division with David Malan taking first place with 40 individual stableford points playing off an 18 handicap. Second place went to David Fisher with 38 points playing off a 10 handicap and third was Gary Price also with 38 playing off a 15 handicap, losing on a count out. Other good scores in the B Division but not in the prizes were Ganas Naicker with 38 points (counted out), and Ricky Brown with 37 points.

Again there were some good scores in the C Division with Sharky Adams taking first place with a great score of 42 individual stableford points playing off a 21 handicap. Second place went to Dhevan Govender, two points behind with 40 stableford points, playing off a 23 handicap.
