The September KZN Senior Amateur monthly tournament was played at Selborne Golf Estate on Thursday 28th and incorporated the KZN Senior Trophy which is an annual trophy event, open to all senior golfers and was played as an individual stableford format across all divisions.

Selborne was in great shape, especially the greens, which led to some very good golf being played on the day. Lynton Beckett (pictured) played solid golf to finish one under par gross 71 to take first place in the A Division. Eric Jarvie was two shots back on gross 73 to take second place. The Best Nett prize in the A Division went to Hannes van der Berg who scored 79 gross less 9 h’cap = nett 70. Runner-up was Mike Matthews with gross 73 less 1 h’cap = nett 72.

There were good scores in the B Division with three players tied on 39 individual stableford points. These were Mark Thorpe who took first place on a count-out from second placed Ganas Naicker and third placed Alan Cretten. Good scores, but not in the prizes, were from Neeraj Sunker with 38 points, Jose de Jesus with 37 points and Charlie Reddy with 36 points.

Two places were paid out in the C Division where Rajen Naidoo took first place with a great score of 40 individual stableford points. Runner-up was Bridg Rambujan with 35 points.

The Senior Trophy results were therefore the C Division winner, Rajen Naidoo of Mandini Golf Club with 40 points playing off a 26 handicap and runner-up was Mark Thorpe of Durban Country Club with 39 points playing off a 13 handicap.
