There was an unusually small turnout of only 64 players for the August 23rd scheduled event at Bluff National Golf Club. Perhaps some felt that the course had not recovered sufficiently from the April floods, however the course was in reasonable condition, given the amount of flooding it had received, and was very much playable as the scores on the day indicated.
There was a clear winner in the A Division with Keith Forde firing a five-under gross 67 on the day. An excellent achievement given that the greens were a little “bumpy” in places which amused some of our members. Coming second in the A Division was Richard Nel with a two over gross score of 74 counting out Mike Matthews, also with 74 gross, in the process. Pictured above with Brian Olsen (Right) are Richard Nel (Left) and Keith Forde (Centre).
The Best Nett prize in the A Division went to Basil Naidoo with a score of 75 gross less 4 h’cap = 71 nett. Runner-up was Dean Stopforth with 76 gross less 4 h’cap = 72 nett.
There were good scores in the B Division with Pat Moodley taking first place honors with 38 individual stableford points playing off an 18 h’cap. Second was Mike Sekobane with 36 points playing off a 13 h’cap counting out Garcia Gabin into third place, also with 36 points, playing off an 18 h’cap.
There was only one place payable in the C Division due to the limited entries in this division and this went to Ujen Naidu with 35 individual stableford points playing off a 19 h’cap.
All the results for the day can be seen in the Senior Downloads margin under the Senior News TAB.
Our next event is to be played at Simbithi Country Club on 6th September and we look forward to seeing you all there.
