Noel Parsonage wins seniors at Royal

Noel Parsonage wins KZN Senior March monthly tournament at Royal Durban Golf Club

A good turnout on a very windy day at Royal Durban Golf Club where the rough was punishing but a slightly shortened course, with some more than usual forward tees, made for some very good golf in all divisions on the day.

Noel Parsonage (pictured) played steady golf with minimal errors to take first place in the A Division with an excellent round of one under par, 71 gross. Two shots back with one over 73 gross were Sean Fenger and Guy O’ Connor with Sean Fenger taking second spot in a count-out process. The Best Nett prize in the A Division went to Mornay Pretorius with an excellent score of level par gross 72 less 6 handicap = 66 nett. Runner-up was Ganas Chetty with 77 gross less 6 handicap = 71 nett.

There were some very good scores in the B Division with steady play from Ganas Naicker earning him first place with a score of 40 individual stableford points. Second place was Kenny Knock with 39 points, third was Bruce Scheffermann with 38 points counting out Anand Gurayah into fourth place also with 38 individual stableford points.

There were two places paid out in the C Division and these went to the winner, Bridg Rambujan with 38 stableford points and second placed was Cecil Prinsloo with 37 individual stableford points.

The game was followed by the KZN Senior AGM where some interesting points regarding Order of Merit points allocation and player availability for team selection for IPT were raised and discussed at some length. The appointed committee members remain the same as Richard Nel (chairman), Brian Olsen, Guy O’ Connor and Dave Fisher.

The April monthly tournament is scheduled to be played at Cotswold Downs on 25th April.

Many thanks to our sponsors, the Golfers Club, for their continued support.
