KWAZULU NATAL GOLF UNION

                  DEVELOPMENT GOLF TOURNAMENT 2024

On Sunday, 17^th March 2024, the KZNGU held its 3^rd KZN Development Golf Tournament at Eshowe Hills Country Club in Zululand.

There were 4 KZN sub-unions that participated namely Ilembe, Midlands Northern KZN and Zululand, each represented by a Team Manager and six players, with Handicap Index of 8.2 or more or Eshowe Course Handicap of 6 or more, with a maximum handicap of 24.

Most of these players have participated since the inaugural tournament thus ensuring continuity and improvement of the players capability, rules, and etiquette of the game of golf.

The format played was Individual Stableford over 18 holes with all 6 scores to count.  All players were kitted out in their Sub-Union colours and had caddies to assist them with the game.

The Tournament was a great success and enjoyed by all who took part, with the KZNGU looking forward to sponsoring this as an annual event in line with it’s transformation programme and the development of Amateur Golf in the Country District areas.

The winning team (above) was Midlands, with Zululand second, both receiving golf equipment as prizes.

Northern KZN came 3^rd with Ilembe G.F 4^th.

All costs for this event included Players and Managers transport, Accommodation, Meals, Green Fees, Caddie Fees, Uniforms and Prizes were paid for by the KZNGU, totalling R160,000.00 from its affiliated members contributions towards Development.

KZNGU appreciates the support and commitment by the Manager, his Staff and Club Members of Eshowe Hills Country Club towards the success of this event with the Golf Course in Excellent playing conditions.

The 2024 winning team (featured) in blue was Midlands. Manager: Mr Morgan Phillips.

Team in turquoise was the Runner-up Zululand Development Team. Manager: Mr Thabani Mdluli

Team in white – Northern KZN Team was 3rd – Manager: Mr Phumlani John

4th was the Illembe GF team in grey which is managed by Mr Eric Mhlongo.
