The KZNGU has been supporting and sponsoring development golf both in the Urban and Rural areas of KZN over a long period of time. One of the main drivers of development in the country districts sub-Unions has culminated in the Development Games which commenced in 2021 under the supervision and guidance of Mr Neil Champion, the KZNGU Development Co-Ordinator, and Mr Sandile Msimango (PGA Professional). The Games, which is sponsored in its entirety by the KZNGU, is contested by teams from the Zululand, Ilembe, Midlands and Northern KZN Sub-Unions at Eshowe CC and comprises of six players from each of the Sub-Unions and Managed by an appointed club member from each of the Districts. All six team members are part of their respective KZNGU Development Programmes and are members of affiliated clubs with official handicaps. The primary aim of the Games is to introduce young development players to competition golf, the Rules and golf etiquette.
