KZN Seniors at Kloof on 21 Aug

KZN Senior Results, Kloof Country Club, 21 August 2023

Those participants that started in the game at Kloof Country Club on 27th June 2023 will recall that there was a fast-moving low pressure system that hit the KZN coast resulting in Durban and surrounds being swamped by high winds, heavy rain and flooding. Those on the course witnessed Kloof turn into an unplayable floodplain in a matter of minutes which resulted in the game being abandoned soon after most had only just teed off.

With intervention from Guy O’Connor, Kloof very kindly re-scheduled the event on 21st August and allowed those that had previously paid green fees to participate at no additional cost. Many thanks to Kloof CC for this.

There were good scores posted on the day. In the A Division there were four players on one over 71 gross. These were Craig Allan, Sean Fenger, Ashwin Krishen and Morgan Phillips. Taking first place honours in a count-out process was Craig Allan with runner-up second place going to Sean Fenger. The Best Nett prize in the A division went to Keith Williamson with a score of 74 gross less 7 h’cap = 67 nett. Runner-up was Eric Jarvie with 72 gross less 4 h’cap = 68 nett.

There were four places paid out in the B Division where Michael Sekobane took first place with an excellent score of 48 individual stableford points playing off a 16 handicap. Well done Michael ! Second place went to Rakesh Haluman with 41 points playing off a 17 h’cap, third was John Patlansky with 38 points playing off a 15 h’cap and fourth was Ricky Brown with 38 points playing off an 18 h’cap losing on a count-out.

A smallish field in the C Division resulted in only two prizes being awarded and these went to the winner Nico Scholtz with 39 individual stableford points playing off a 27 h’cap and runner-up Wessie Wessels with 36 points playing off a 21 h’cap.

Congratulations to all prizewinners and thanks must go to Kloof CC as well as our sponsor, the Golfer’s Club for their continued support.
