There was a fair turnout for the May monthly tournament at Maritzburg Golf Club on Tuesday 26th on a glorious, balmy Autumn day. For some reason, other than the winners in each division, players just couldn’t put good rounds together, even though weather was benign, the greens rolling perfectly and the course in good, all round, condition.

It was Guy O’Connor (featured image) who managed to come to grips with the course and returned a gross score of 72 to take first place in the A Division followed by Stephen Hughes, four shots back with 76 in second place. The Best Net places went to Bruce Schefermann with gross 80 less 8 handicap = nett 72 followed by Dean Stopforth with gross 78 less 5 handicap = nett 73.

The B Division was won by Glen Sithole with 38 individual stableford points playing off a 13 handicap counting out Bheki Ndlovu also with 38 points playing off a 15 handicap in the process. Third place was Jordeo de Jesus with 36 points playing off a 17 handicap. 

Some very good scores in the C Division were posted with Lovey Moodley taking first place with 40 individual points, counting out Kumar Naidu playing off a 22 handicap also with 40 points. Other good scores but not earning any prizes were Seelan Moodley with 36 points, Dean Algar, Devzel Ramiah and Shane Malan all with 35 points.
