The June monthly Senior Amateur tournament was played at Zimbali Country Club on Thursday 25th. Unfortunately due to golf cart availability the event was limited to 72 players so understandably there were some disappointed players who were unable to be accommodated in the draw.

Zimbali CC was in great condition and judging by the scores, the testing layout took its toll on some players. However, it was Kevin Ullyett (pictured) who had a flawless, bogey-free round of five-under 67 gross which was more than enough for him to take first place in the A Division. Excellent golf Kevin and well played! The runner-up prize went to Rajen Sewgolum who also played steady golf and returned a gross score of three-over par 75.

Although Guy O”Connor returned the next best gross score of 73, he was awarded the Best Nett prize in the A Division with a score of 73 – 2 h’cap = nett 71 with the runner-up being Monay Pretorius with a score of 79 – 7 h’cap = nett 72.

Some good scores in the B Division but it came down to SS Mzimela taking first place with 38 individual stableford points with Sidney Reddy taking second spot with 37 stableford points. Other good scores, but not in the prizes, were Brian Olsen with 36 points and Devanand Bridglall with 35 points.

A small turnout in the C Division resulted in two prizes being awarded. Seelan Moodley and Rob Pattinson both had scores of 35 individual stableford points but the first place prize went to Seelan Moodly on a count-out basis with Rob being awarded runner-up.

The July monthly tournament is scheduled to be played at the popular Selborne Park Golf Club on Tuesday 21st July so get your entries in to the KZNGU soonest.
